[오늘 수업 정리]

※ 어제 과제가 워낙 많아서 여유가 없었네요.

     학원 마치고 바로 정리하겠습니다.

※ 정리 시작합니다.

1) 파트4:

 - 표에 나와있는 요일의 구분을 임의로 week days나 weekend로

    바꿔선 안된다.

    미국에서는 '월-목 / 금-일'로 week days와 weekdend를 나누기도

    하고, '월-금 / 토-일'로 나누기도 하기 때문이다.

 - 시간에는 from과 to가 어울리지만,

    날짜나 요일에는 through를 쓴다.

    예) Monday through Friday

 - 돈 읽기 : $50.00 "fifty dollars (only)"

    예) For single 1 person only Monday fhrough Tursday,

   At that time, a manager gave us specific derections for doing

   the tasks and we could finish the work ealier than expected.

   If the manager let us work in our own way,

   we couldn't finished the tasks in time.

   For this reason, I think it is better that managers give specific

 * 이유 문장이 생각나지 않으면 바로 경험을 대고, 그걸 조금 늘려 말하면 되니까

    너무 긴장하지 않아도 된다.

 * 명언 같은 걸 자기식으로 치환해서 써주면 자연스럽게 고득점을 할 수 있다.

    예) The success is the foolest teacher, and the failure is the wisest teacher.

          완전 유치한 문장이지만, 이렇게 쓸 경우 자기 생각이란 걸 어필할 수 있다.

 * 운동은 work out  / 연습문제는 exvercise

 * how로 묻는다면 빈도로 대답하면 좋다.

 * 어휘들

    - 긁지 않은 복권 같은 사람: rough stone / rough jewel

    - 멘탈 붕괴: mental breaking

           The first thing I can see is that a couple of women are coming up the stairs

           side by side, and one of them is holding a cup in her left hand.

           many people are following them, and other people are going down stairs

           from the opposite side of them.

           Several screens have been attached on walls 

           on the both sides of the picture.

           There is a large screen between the walls, and a certain advertisement

           is displaying on it.

           This picture reminds me when I visited to downtown by subway.

   I'd like to elaborate on this by giving the following reason.

   Because there are many things that we cannot learn

   from the books sush as driving a car.

   When I tried to get a drivers license for the first time,

   I just read related books before the test.
   But I failed to get the license due to lack of my driving skills.

   Next time I practiced driving skills by a real vehicle,

   and I finally got the license.

  The second reason is that it can help to gain composure.

  In my case, I was pushed by time in every morning,

  and it made me annoy all day long.

  in the morning, and It keeps my filling good all day.

   groups.

   One with experidence members finished their tasks

   3 hours ealier than expected with no accident.

   But another one with inexperienced mebers couldn't

   finish their job in time, and there was an accident.

   For this reason, Although I pay to employees more,

   I'd like to hire and experienced worker

   than to hire inexperience persons.

           The first thing I can see is that a woman with a vietnamese traditional hat

           is carrying a bar on her right shoulder with two baskets filled with fruits

           hanging on the both sides of it in the middle of the picture.

           Behind her, a bike rider and a scooter rider are going along

           the street from the both sides of the picture.

           Behind all of them, some trees have been planted and a vehicles

           have been parked along the street.

           This picture reminds me when I visited Vietnam.

   제가 이 사진에서 grab을 쓴 건 적절하지 않았네요

Q. Somepeople prefer to use public transportations

    to get to their destination.

    However,others choose to use their own vehicles.

    Which do you think is better and why?

A(60s). I'd like to use public transportations than using

     my own vehicle to get to my destinations.

     I'd like to elaborate on this by-giving

     the following reasons.

     The first reason is that it is the way

     to save time and money.

     When I brought my own vehicle to down town,

     I had to pay for parking fee and gas payment.

     Moreover, I was-used-to late for my appointment often,

     because there was traffic jam.

     If I use public transfortations,

     I don't-have-to-be stressed from-this-kinds

     -of situation.

     The second reason is that It-is-the-way-to enable

     -doing multi-task at-once.

     When-I-took-a-bus to-come-to-my -office,

     I-could read-a-news and-listen-music.

     If I drive my car, I cannot do those.

     For these reasons, I'd like to use public transportaions

     to get to my destinations.

   이 글의 구조는 다음과 같습니다.

    The reason is that, I think it can help to keep

    When I was a school child, my friends had to wear a uniform.

    One of my girl friend liked to wear pants instead of skirt,

    but she had to wear an uniform skirt.

    I remembered that she was a boyish girl,

    but she had became girlish with that uniform.

    if we had been able to wear other clothes freely,

    she could have kept her individuality.

    For this reason, I think school children should not 

    have to wear a uniform.

            Because most of the emails are spam.

            However I always reply to emails from my family or friends.

 A(30s). I would rather use cell phones than use email.  

            Because it can help to have conversation with others

            immediately. It is a time saving way.

            If I have a probem to handle promptly,

            I need to use cell phones not email.

            That's why I prefer to use cell phones.

    performance to make employees work harder.

     Yes, I agree with it.

     The reason is simple.

     If companies give same reward to thier employees

     despite of their different performances,

     there will be no one working hard.

     Because employees are always receive

     same compensation, either they make

     high performances or not.

     fianally It will deplete motivation of employees,

     and decrease the company's output.

     But if companies offer compensation

     to their workers

     according to performances, employees will work

     efficiently for getting high rewards.

     When I took a part time job offering rewards

     according to performances, it finished 3 hours

     earler than expected.

     That's why I think so.

1) 파트2에서는 옷이나 악세사리 헤어스타일 묘사들은 별로 중요하지 않음.

    그것 보다는 차라리 행동이나 상태, 위치를 묘사해야 고득점임.

2) useful은 도구에, informative는 정보에 쓰는 표현이다.

3) 파트4는 정답과 오답이 존재하는 유일한 파트다.

    그런만큼 일단 잘 듣고, 묻는 것에 정확히 대답을 해야 한다.

    ① 의문사 when이나 where로 묻는 경우가 많은데,

        의문사가 두개 중복해서 나오면 당황 말고 순서대로 대답하자.

    ② 의문사에 대답하고 나면 시간이 많이 남기도 하는데 그럴 때는

        행사가 시작하는 시간이나 시작하는 시간 & 끝나는 시간,

        시작하는 시간 & 첫번째 스케줄 혹은 표에 적혀있는 완전한 문장을

        읽으면서 시간을 때우자.

    ③ 그래도 시간이 애매하게 남으면 please come and enjoy it. 이나

         I’m sure that it would be informative. 를 써 먹어 보자.

    ④ 제시된 표를 빠르게 훑어 보고, 뭔가 하나의 키워드에 걸린

9) 중간에 아무 소리도 내지 않는 상태가 절대 1.5초 이상 되어선 안 된다.

10) 파트5에서는 말하는 사람이 여자인지 남자인지를 먼저 파악해둬야 한다.

[오늘 수업 내용 정리]

※ 오늘은 파트 1 2 3 을 좀 더 구체적으로 배웠습니다.

※ 앞으로 레벨 8을 바라볼 수 있는 고급 단어들은 음영 표시를 주도록 할께요.

1) 파트1 : 22p. 23p. 스크립트를 무작위로 읽어보게끔 했는데,

    발음이 스무스해서 좋다는 평은 받았지만, 부정어를 강조하지 않는

    버릇이 있다고 들었다.

    부정어를 꼭 강조하도록 하자. 그리고 끊어 읽는 것도 잡아야 한다고 들었다.

    원어민은 어디서 끊어 읽는지를 자세히 듣고 내 걸로 만들어야겠다.

    - 연음을 잘 사용하면 영어를 잘 하는 것처럼 들린다.

2) 파트2 :

    - look around 에는 '둘다보다 / 관광하다'는 뜻이 있다.

    - 이어지는 발음에 부담을 주는 wear 를 쓰기 보다는

       옷이나 코트나 자켓 따위는 in으로 (A man in a jacket),

       머플러나 안경 따위는 with로 (A man with a muffler) 표현해주면 좋다.

    - 그냥 store 보다는 grocery store 가 고급 표현이다.

    - 파트2는 첫 문장에 사람, 상태 혹은 동작, 장소가 모두 담겨야 한다.

       예) This is a picture of some shoppers looking around

             in the grocery store.

    - hold와 carry는 바꿔 쓸 수 있는 표현이다.

       같은 표현이라도 단어를 달리해서 표현할 수 있어야

      어휘부분에서 고득점을 할 수 있다.

    - 다음과 같은 묘사를 레벨8 영역의 묘사이다.

       ① 땅이 젖어 있다. ~ 내 생각에 비가 오고 있는 것 같다.

       ② 도로에 두 줄의 중앙선이 그어져 있다.

       ③ (사진의 구석 부분) 발코니에 빨래가 널려 있다.

       ④ 구름 한 점 없는 하늘이다.

       ⑤ 한 남자가 한손에는 바구니를 다른 한 손에는 가방을 들고 있다.

    - 사진 속 사람을 기준으로 다른 사람을 말할 때 쓸 수 있는 표현

3) 파트3:

    -  어휘 수준은 곧바로 표현력 점수로 연결된다.

        그리고 어휘 수준이 높다면, 문법에서 좀 실수하더라도

      감점을 면할 확률이 높다.

    -  파트3는 한 키워드 당 3문제 출제되는데, 각 문제는 개별적으로 스크린에

        나타나므로, 가령 4번 문제에서 5번 문제 질문에 해당되는 이야기를

        이미 했다고 하더라도 당황하지 않고, 같은 내용을 이야기 해도 된다.

      단지 순서를 바꿔주면 좋을 것.

        (채점자들도 문제가 어떻게 제시되는지를 파악하고 있기 때문에

         감점하지 않음)

 - 쓸 수 있는 날씨 표현:

 - 그 이후 15초를 메워야 하므로 그런 날씨를 좋아하는 이유와

    그래서 나는 어떤 계절을 좋아한다는 이야기를 추가로 해주면 좋다.

 - If theweather is great, I feel good but, if the weather is bad, I feel blue.

2월 15일 1시 반 시험을 등록했습니다.

영어라곤 토익 밖에 모르는데 (그것도 잘하는 것도 아니지만) 스피킹은 어떤 난관이 기다리고 있을지.

무엇보다 문제는 시험료가 너무 비싸다는 점이예요.

정가 77,000원 토익이랑 패키지 접수하면 8000원 할인된다고는 하지만 

고작 20분 정도 걸리는 시험에 77,000원이라니.. (ETS를 주깁시다 여러분!)

그만큼 한번의 기회를 소중히 해야겠다는 생각이 드네요. 

강남에 2주 짜리 학원을 등록도 했고, 교재도 구입했으니까 이제 시작해봐야죠!

[토익 스피킹은 어떤 시험일까요?]

1) 시험 구성 6개의 파트 총 11개 문제로 시험시간은 20분 가량입니다.

    파트 별로 보자면 다음과 같습니다.

    ① 파트1 - 문장 읽기 (2문제): 준비 45초 / 답변 45초

    ② 파트2 - 사진 묘사 (1문제): 준비 30초 / 답변 45초

    ③ 파트3 - 질문에 답하기 (3문제): 준비 없음 / 답변 15 ~ 30초

    ④ 파트4 - 제공된 정보를 사용하여 답하기 (3문제): 읽는 시간 30초 / 준비 없음 / 답변 15 ~ 30초

[포스트 목표]

'2주 동안 토익 스피킹을 성실하게 준비하면 어떤 성과를 얻을 수 있는지를 

 기록하고 그 수기를 남길 것. 그리고 될 수 있으면 레벨 7을 얻을 것'

저는 하루에 3시간씩 학원 강의를 듣고 숙제를 해 나가기로 했습니다.

선생님 이야기로는 2주 만에 레벨 6은 받게 해줄 수는 있지만, 레벨 7은 열심히 해서 한 달 정도는

해야 가능할 거라고 이야기 하시네요.

하지만 2주든 한 달이든 목표는 레벨 7으로 잡고 해보려고 합니다.

[오늘자 학원 강의 요약]

※ 오늘은 스피킹의 기본 개요와 파트 1 2 3을 훝어봤습니다.

1) 하루 1시간이라도 꼭 혼자 연습할 수 있는 시간을 낼 것 (수업, 숙제를 제외한 순수 연습 시간을 낼 것) 

2) 말하기 시험은 파트별 이론을 배우고, 실전에 적용해 보는 걸 반복하여야 원하는 레벨을 얻을 수 있음.

3) 토익 스피킹 파트1부터 6까지를 아우르는 세가지가 있는데,  바로 발음, 억양, 강세가 그것이다.

    음의 높낮이인 음조를 지켜줘야 원주민이 내가 무슨 말을 하는지 알아먹기 때문에,

    여기에는 특히 신경을 쏟아서 연습을 해두도록 하자.

4) 읽을 떄 힘을 주어야 할 곳들

    ① 고유명사

    ② 형용사

    ③ 본동사

         즉 be ing / be p.p. / have been p.p. / be being p.p (being에도 살짝 강세)

    ④ 날짜, 숫자, 시간, 단위 ※ 다만 얘들끼리 붙어있을 경우에는 숫자에 가장 강세를 둔다.

         예) 50 dollars

    ⑤ 부정어 ※ 부정어와 본동사가 붙어 있을 경우 부정어에 강세를 둔다.

         예) can't fix it

    ⑥ 비교급, 최상급, 수량 형용사

         예) more than 50 dollars

    ⑦ 복합 명사는 앞의 명사에 강세를 둔다.

    ⑧ 두 단어로 된 도시명은 뒤에 강세를 둔다.

         예) Los Angeles

    ⑨ 콤마와 and로 연결된 명사들에게는 각각 닫다 강세를 둔다.

         예) 명사, 명사 and 명사

5) 파트1 주의점: 읽다가 틀렸다고 해도 절대 처음부터 다시 읽지 말고, 틀린 곳부터 다시 읽어라. 
    처음부터 다시 읽는 건 감점요소지만, 틀린 곳부터 다시 읽는 건 감점요소가 아니기 때문.

6) 파트2 주의점: 점수를 매기는 사람들이 친절하게 끝까지 들어주는 경우가 거의 없으므로

    첫 문장부터 '아주 자세하게' 이야기 할 수 있어야 한다. (사람, 장소, 위치 정확하게)

     ① 패턴형 암기는 ETS에서 감점하기 때문에 될 수 있는대로 피해야 한다.

          예) in the middle of the picture가 앞에 나오면 패턴으로 인식하고 감점시켜 버린다. 

     ② 머릿 속으로 상황을 그리는 연습을 항상하자.

          스스로 사진을 찍어서 묘사하는 연습을 해보면 좋다.

     ③ 토익 LC의 파트1자료를 이용해보는 것도 방법이다.

          ※ 아침에 일어나서 되도록이면 LC를 파트 1, 2나 3, 4로 나눠서 둘 중 하나라도 풀자.

     ④ 레벨 7을 받으려면, 현재 분사와 과거 분사를 자유자재로 구사할 수 있어야 한다.

          그리고 have p.p.는 원어민들이 달고 사는 표현이므로 익숙해지도록 해야 한다.

     ⑤ 어휘에 상황을 녹일 수록, 고급어휘를 구사할 수록, 원어민들에게 어색하지 않은 어휘를

         구사할 수록 높을 레벨을 얻을 수 있다.

          - some people enjoy the meal 보다는 there are two diners in the picture

          - waitress 보다는 server

          - 의자가 빈 것은 empty가 아니라 unoccupied가 더 자연스럽다.

             사람을 진찰하는 것은 inspect 보다 examine이 더 자연스럽다.

              (inspect는 기계를 살펴볼 때나 쓰는 말임)

             부끄럽다고 하려면 ashamed 보다 embarrassing이 더 자연스럽다. 
              (ashamed는 수치스러워 고개를 들지 못하겠다는 뜻)

     ⑥ 형용사나 부사까지 유창하게 다룰 수 있다면 레벨 8도 바라볼 수 있다.

     ⑦ this picture reminds me ----- 까지 들어가줘야 레벨 7을 받을 수 있음.

     ⑧ 내 눈에 들어오는 것부터 차례대로 묘사할 것.

     ⑨ 전치사구 in the background of the picture, in the foreground of the picture,

         on the right side of the picture, on the left side of the picture, in themiddle of the picture,

         in the center of the picture 등은 맨 뒤로 뺄 것 (맨 앞에 이걸 쓰면 패턴으로 봐서 감점)

      교재 27p 예시) This is apicture of a couple having lunch and a server in the restaurant.

7) 파트3 주의점: 대화능력을 테스트하는 것이므로 빨리 답하는 게 중요하다.

     ① 마음이 급하더라도 절대 주어나 동사 날려먹고 단어로만 답해서는 안 된다.

          이건 영어에서는 일종의 반말이기 때문에, 이래서는 절대 레벨 7을 받을 수 없기 때문.  

     ② 파트3가 시작되면, 스크린에서 재빨리 about 다음 부분의 키워드를 파악해야 한다.

     ③ 말을 하다가 시간이 오버되면 대량 감점이다.

         그렇다고 4초이상 남겨도 감점이다.

         뭔가 1~2초 정도 메꿀 말을 생각해두자.

1) 시작하는 마음가짐 작성하기 - clear !

2) 우리말로 하는 아무 홈쇼핑이나 보고, 쇼 호스트가 어느 부분을 강조하는지를 자세히 듣고

    위에서 정리한 강조해서 읽어야 할 부분이랑 얼마나 일치하는지 감상문 써 보기 - clear !
